Hi Sweet Friends,
Welcome to the The Little Mind Retreat Blog. Thank you so much for visiting and I’m so thankful you are here!
My name is Christina. I'm a Christian, stay-at-home momma to two perfectly, imperfect little boys. I'm, also, a devoted wife, newly published author, independently licensed social worker, and founder of The Little Mind Retreat.
A few years ago, in true neurodivergent fashion— I decided to, almost simultaneously, dive into a deep sea of big adventures, overlooked hobbies, and novel (no pun intended) interests. Sounds wonderful, right? Yes, it is! But... let me introduce you to the antagonists of this impulsive swim. Time and his uniquely stubborn accomplice—time-management (ughmm). Oh, and just because I'm a writer, does not mean I'm great at grammar. Sorry, hate to say it, but it's true. Expect imperfect grammar to pop in and say "howdy do?" in this blog. Because he's my mini-villain and, sadly, he's here to stay— at least until hyperfocus (my faithful friend and foe) decides to make him leave hehe.
Anyway, back to my original point...maybe ;). When I'm not trying to beat time at his speedy game of, "times up", I'm doing my best to accomplish all the things on my, Christina-crafted, to-do list. A long list of, "I have to get to's, I want to get to's, I hope to get to's, and ehh...I will probably....at some point...get to's." What's on this long list of to-do's, you may wonder. Okay, take a breather... here we go: spending my mornings with Jesus, Bible study, homeschooling, all things art and imagination, exercise, drawing, painting, reading multiple books at a time, outside time, learning American Sign Language (ASL), writing two (unrelated) novels, writing and illustrating children's books, and, last but not least, writing these blog posts. Oh, and let's not forget about the everyday mommy-centered tasks, including but not limited to, repeated reminders to keep the cutesy crafts on the craft wall.

Yes, you read that correctly—we, do in fact, have an entire wall devoted to all things arts and crafts.
This kind of home happens when your kids art bins, closet cubbies, and shared bedroom begin to overflow with these one-of-a-kind colorful creations. Then suddenly, without warning they end up happily taped on every wall of the house. Oh, and did I mention my husband and I home-cook all of our meals. Yes, somehow, this is my ever growing, slowly accomplishing to-do list. As you can see, I have a lot to do and very little time to do it all. So if I'm late to post, please forgive my hyperfocus, it got lost somewhere in the beautiful blur ;).
Okay, so now for the important part of this post:
This blog is my comfy cove. A place in which I can let my imagination run wild and you can find an array of topics related to our little minds and their big feelings. We will discuss homeschool and sensory activities, general information/education, and other resources— all related to mental health and neurodivergence.
This creative space is designed with the intention of increasing mental health awareness, illuminating neurodivergence, encouraging creativity, imagination, and emotion and feeling expression. Most importantly, this blog will contain Christian content. After all, Jesus is the reason I do what I do.
My hope is to share information with you that will both, glorify God and promote our mini minds mental health, as well as our own.
With all that said (and much more than needed), let’s get started!
Until next time,
Christina
